Men’s Health

... and others shown below

Women’s Health

At NRMC, we realize that women have specialized needs at different times in their adult lives. We recognize how important it is for women to have a partner in their health care throughout every stage of life.

Treatments for Men’s Medical Health Issues

At NRMC, when we use the word “wellness,” it means more than an annual checkup. We want to be partners in your care. This means learning about your family history and risk factors for diseases that affect male patients such as prostate cancer or diabetes.

Immunizations

Immunizations are often widely stated as less risky and an easier way to become immune to a particular disease than risking a milder form of the disease itself. They are important for both adults and children in that they can protect us from the many diseases out there. Immunization not only protects children against deadly diseases but also helps in developing children’s immune systems.

DOT Physicals

A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical is a health examination mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers. A DOT physical helps determine if a driver is physically, mentally, and emotionally fit to operate a commercial vehicle.

Diabetes

Almost everyone knows a friend or a family member who has diabetes, so it should not be surprising that in the United States, more than 25 million people, or roughly 8 percent of the population, have diabetes. While diabetes can cause serious health problems, it can be successfully managed by working closely with your health care team.

High Blood Pressure

When your heart pumps blood, the force of the blood flow against the artery walls is called blood pressure. If this force is too high, it can lead to heart disease and other health problems. High blood pressure is very common, and it may develop gradually, or it may be caused by an underlying condition such as kidney problems, tumors or medications.

High Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in the fats in your blood, and it is instrumental in helping your body build cells. In fact, your body needs some cholesterol to remain healthy. But when cholesterol counts climb upward, problems can begin.

Allergies

Allergies are triggered when your immune system comes into contact with a harmless substance that it mistakes as an invader, launching a reaction that can result in a wide range of symptoms. While some allergic reactions cause only inconvenience and mild misery, others can trigger life-threatening conditions.

How Do You Get a Sinus Infection?

The sinuses are a series of small, connected, hollow cavities in the skull. They are located in the cheekbones, between the eyes, behind the nasal cavity, and in the center of the forehead. Normally, sinuses are able to filter and humidify the air we breathe, but when these tiny passageways become blocked due to allergens or inflammation, the stage is set for a sinus infection, also called sinusitis.

Electrocardiogram

An EKG, or electrocardiogram, is a painless test that records the heart’s electrical activity, or heart rhythm. Physicians can examine the recorded activity to help determine if a patient has had a heart attack, has an irregular heartbeat, a faint heartbeat, or other problems.

Bone Density Scan

Bone density scans are painless exams that help doctors determine if you have osteoporosis. While healthy bones are constantly removing weakened sections and replacing them with strong sections, bones affected by osteoporosis are weak and may break easily as a result of minor falls or even simple actions such as bumping into a chair. Bones affected by osteoporosis either make too little bone, lose too much bone, or both.

Echocardiography

An echocardiogram is a painless procedure that enables doctors to see how well the heart is functioning. The test utilizes sound waves to create moving images that are recorded and displayed on a computer. Echocardiography not only enables physicians to see the size and shape of the heart, but it helps them pinpoint heart muscles that aren’t working efficiently and detect blood clots or problems with major arteries.

Pulmonary Function Testing

Pulmonary function tests (PFTs) are noninvasive tests that show how well the lungs are working. The tests measure lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange. This information can help your healthcare provider diagnose and decide the treatment of certain lung disorders.

Stress Test

A stress test enables a physician to learn how well your heart works during exercise. This may also be called an exercise test or a treadmill test. Physicians use exercise stress tests to determine a safe level of exercise or diagnose heart-related problems. The test can help a physician diagnose coronary artery disease, determine the cause of chest pain, light-headedness or dizziness.

Walk In Clinic

Walk-in clinics have been criticized for providing poor quality healthcare as opposed to professional care such as regular doctors and hospitals. Other disadvantages may include the urgency to make the patient’s visit as quick as possible in order to reduce the long waiting list of walk-ins at the clinic, which may fail to fulfill the purpose of the visit.

PCMH

Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Model. The patient-centered medical home (PCMH) model is an approach to delivering high-quality, cost-effective primary care. Using a patient-centered, culturally appropriate, and team-based approach, the PCMH model coordinates patient care across the health system.

Behavioral Health Center

Behavioral health describes the connection between behaviors and the health and well-being of the body, mind and spirit. This would include how behaviors like eating habits, drinking or exercising impact physical or mental health.

Nutritional Services

Good nutrition is key to maintaining a healthy body and mind. We know that following a diverse and flavorful nutrition plan can help you prevent developing chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and others.

What Patients Say

Dr. Sachdeva is the most caring Doctor I have seen. She is amazing and provides good feedback on keeping the good balance between tablets, exercise and monitoring. She stresses on wellness rather than illness. She is very courteous and professional.
